May 29th is almost here, just a little more than 24hrs. Nigerians will be relishing the exit of President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, that in 8yrs inspired zilch towards the growth, unity and stability of Nigeria. With the incumbent administration's exit, comes the new government of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who would become the 16th citizen to have occupied the exalted position of national leader since 1960.

The 2023 elections have come and gone, with its dust yet to settle, as the PDP and the LP still have Court cases seeking for the nullification of Tinubu's declaration as President-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Post-election rhetorics from different angles weren't devoid of prophesies, as would ordinarily be expected in a multi-religious nation. However the reality starring Nigeria and the global community is the impending may 29th swearing in of Tinubu as Nigeria's President.
With the slow pace at which the wheel of justice grinds here, it's been common knowledge that a new administration will be sworn in before the electoral cases are concluded; the peculiar Nigeria situation.

It seems prophecies and diverse permutations are failing as the day draws near. Here are few significant things the new President should brace up to improve.
Electricity power supply : Since 1960, till date, it has never appeared in any record that electricity remained constant throughout the Nation, even for a day. It's high time a President set the record.
Education: Over the years, the quality of education offered in the country has declined, leaving the children of the affluent, and the opportune citizens to scatter abroad in search of qualitative education. It became so bad that Nigerians even beseech fellow African countries for opportunity at obtaining sound education.
Security: This shouldn't have been mentioned, because of its significance to governance anywhere. But the government of Nigeria has so much abdicated its protective responsibility, that communities and individuals now arrange their own security at communal or individual level.
Peaceful coexistence: The incumbent administration immediately upon inauguration made moves that destroyed the relative peace among tribes. President Buhari's infamous 97%:5% statement on description of vote base portrayed him as a tribal bigot, and he rightfully lived out the tag in Aso rock.
Asiwaju Tinubu should jettison advices that gear towards toeing the path of his predecessor. Election is supposedly over, governance should be equitably designed to carter for all and sundry irrespective of tribe.
Restructuring: The present structure the nation runs is counter productive and limits hugely the country's chances at civilization and development.
When these few things are pragmatically improved, at least within the first four years term, the country and its citizens would be reassured that Nigeria can work again.
Until then, following the abysmal performance of INEC in the last election, and the deficient judiciary we parade, along with their bizarre judgements, hope for a working Nigeria will be a mirage, and citizens will continue their search for responsible and functional leadership.
